First, Mike and I talked about the weekend and what it used to be and how difficult its becoming now with everything else going on. A big change this year is that we're going to host the event, not just have it at the place. Meaning we'll sort out the basics for food and beverages though people will still want to bring anything special for themselves or to share. We'll have plenty of food (I think I learned portions from Adept) so that means come for however long you can make it...an afternoon, 1 day, 2 days or the entire week. So far we're planning ribs, burgers/brats and steak for the evening meals plus a mixture of things for lunches.
Secondly, to update the sleeping situation. At the main cabin site we have the main cabin with 2 bedrooms and a loft + sofa, the small cabin (single room) and the Jackson Camper. There is also plenty of space for tents or the big shed. That being said, I'm looking to replace the beds in the small cabin with a bunk-bed and possible keep a single bed in there (if room permits). I am going to try and put a bunk in the main cabin as well but I'm doubtful that it will fit. If we need additional bedrooms/space the other cabin we have has two bedrooms (though it is on the other side of town).
Finally an update of the cabins in general. We're going up this weekend to finish the bathroom (all expect the window) so walls, trim and mount the shower(curtain) had better be in place this year! We were able install all the cabinets and counters last year so kitchen is finished. We're still planning on doing the front windows in the main cabin but that will wait until later in the summer along with a new foundation under the small cabin and replacing the front porch, roof and windows.
The things YOU are responsible to bring for yourselves....(this is from last year and possibly needs to be edited)
1. Beverages. We will provide coffee and the water is drinkable in the cabin (though I can't guarantee how it tastes) other than that you are on your own.
2. Breakfast. Not everyone eats this, and some people like very specific things...so you get to provide your own.
3. Towels. if you want to shower bring your own towels and toiletries. We will provide hand towels and kitchen towels but you need your own shower / swimming towel.
4. Entertainment. If you want to do something (volleyball, tennis, swimming, biking, etc...) make sure to bring or arrange the stuff for you to partake in that activity. Other things to bring include Tennis Racquets, Inline Skates, or a Bicycle. We may want to organize it so that we don't have 5 volleyballs and no horseshoes. Who will be willing to bring...
Volleyball, Frisbees, Croquet Set, Bocci Ball, Horseshoe set, Poker Chips (Dan? Brian?)
